Deliberate Practice & OKRs

Standard 1: Learner"Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning."

At Lake Technical College, instructional personnel were required to plan and execute a Deliberate Practice. In my case, my deliberate practice that year turned into the Welding Journey that I submitted for Standard 5. Additionally, coming from my time as a Marketer, I picked up the practice of developing Objectives and Key Results for each quarter.

These artifacts were implemented when I worked for Lake Technical College in 2019.

LMS Administrator

Standard 2: Leader"Educators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning."

As the LMS Administrator for Concordia University Wisconsin & Ann Arbor, I serve as a leader for our Learning Management System (Blackboard Learn) and for Continuing Education (Destiny One) through collaborating with the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) and Continuing Education Studies (CES).

Ally Implementation

Standard 3: Citizen"Educators inspire students to positively contribute to and responsibly participate in the digital world."

Ally, an accessibility tool within Blackboard Learn, provides all students with alternative file formats - including the ability to download a PDF as an MP3 to listen to instead of reading - provides Universal Design for Learning for all students, all with no setup required by the Instructor or accomodations required from the Academic Resource Center.

The Academic Resource Center, Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, and myself implemented Ally across all courses in Blackboard Learn in Summer of 2022.

The Pandemic & The Canvas Academy

Standard 4: Collaborator"Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems."

COVID-19 was a catapult for many institutions to embrace online learning. I was working at Lake Technical College when the Pandemic hit. Issue is, besides for loosely using Schoology, we had no LMS. A colleague of mine and I manged to rapidly implement Instructure Canvas to our institution, training faculty and student alike on how to best use this collaborative technology.

Canvas was implemented at Lake Technical College in the fall of 2020.

"Welding Journey"

Standard 5: Designer"Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability."

Applying Florida Department of Education's Welding Technology (J400400) Standards, I developed a "Welding Journey" through all Occupational Completion Points (OCP A shown only), accompanied by a sample lesson plan and Weld Inspection Rubric that I also created.

Implemented in 2019 at Lake Technical College while I served as an Instructional Designer.

Student Success & 504 Coordinator

Standard 5: Facilitator"Educators facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students."

As a grant-funded Special Populations Coordinator, I assisted students and faculty bring about student success through coordinating right-fit assistive technology for students who requested accomodations, guidance and referral processes for attendance concerns, even developing a CRM to help track at-risk students (not shown).

Exploring Ultra

Standard 7: AnalystEducators understand and use data to drive their instruction and support students in achieving their learning goals.

As LMS Administrator, I am actively exploring a new version of Blackboard Learn, the Ultra Course View. I am developing tools and resources to help our University explore this new tool, compare it with other options, and decide how to move forward.

This artifact is in progress and should be completed by June 2024.

Trinity Sheboygan Church Council: Educational Coordinator

Standard: The CUW Faith Standard"Educators model Christian servant leadership through consistent, moral and ethical behaviors and, by example, inspire others to do likewise in their personal, professional and community life."

I currently serve on Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheboygan WI's church council as the Educational Coordinator. Through this position, I am working with pastoral leadership to find ways to reach young adults, young married couples, and families with small children - bringing them into a community and fellowship and biblical study.
